Almeida expects to return in May to participate in ONE’s first event in the United States

Having lived in the United States for more than a decade, Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida has made public his desire to participate in the first event that the Asian organization will offer on North American ground.

“I was very happy about the news,” the Brazilian told ONE’s website. “Fighting in that event would be amazing! ONE’s first time in the United States, and I’ve lived in the country for twelve years, so it would be very special. I have a lot of fans in Brazil and the U.S., and I’ve won a few in Asia as well.”

Undefeated in ONE with a 4 – 0 record, all wins by first round finish, the dangerous BJJ black belt is yearning for a return to action in May.

“The ideal scenario for my return would be May or June,” he explained. “May onwards would be perfect for me. It’s hard for me to talk about a possible opponent because the division is pretty busy. A lot of Heavyweights fought in the last few bouts, and others retired, like Brandon Vera. So I have no idea who it could be, but I’ll be ready.”

Fortunately for Almeida, ONE’s U.S. debut event, ONE on Prime Video 10, will take place on May 5. So there’s time.
