McGregor has been pushing to get an instant welterweight title opportunity against the winner of Usman against Leon Edwards bout, as soon as he recovers from his broken leg. Ali Abdelaziz, Usman’s manager and one of McGregor’s most hated adversaries, has proposed that before taking on the champion, Usman must compete in a tune-up fight.
Abdelaziz responded to a tweet from BT Sport on McGregor’s anticipated comeback to action, which is expected by the end of this year or the beginning of 2023: “Give this guy easy money. We need him to win to pimp him out one more time like we did before.”
On the other hand, McGregor has said he doesn’t fear Usman “I feel confident against Usman,” he said during an interview with The Mac Life earlier this year. “A jab-happy, sloppy, orthodox wrestler with no submissions whatsoever – what’s he going to do? Where’s the danger here? I don’t see danger – no one has ever obtained three titles in three divisions like I will do if we make this fight.”
