McGregor Warned of Risks of Facing Chandler

At the end of UFC 274, Michael Chandler gave us one of the most spectacular knockouts in recent times, defeating Tony Ferguson with a beautiful front kick to take the win.

In his words after the fight, Chandler expressed his intention to face Irishman Conor McGregor, who later accepted the challenge through his social networks.

Is it a good fight for McGregor?, legend and former UFC champion, Tito Ortiz, issued his opinion on the matter and was quite clear: it would not be a good idea for the Irishman, much less after an injury.

“It doesn’t make sense for Conor McGregor,” Ortiz told Helen Yee Sports. “Chandler is a wrestler who can strike. That’s not Conor’s strength. Khabib really showed that and what he can do with it.

Despite considering it a bad idea for McGregor to face Chandler, a fighter in his prime, Ortiz expressed his respect for the Irishman, who has the desire to compete after breaking his leg.

“Poirier also showed what he can do with wrestling also and with striking. For Conor to come back after the injury he had, I have nothing but respect for the guy. The guy has a steel rod in his leg and still wants to come back and compete.”

Conor McGregor last competed in July 2021, when he lost to Dustin Poirier due to a doctor stoppage. The Irish star is expected to return to action in late 2022 or early next year.
